Hello,

After the upgrade of WindowBlinds build 5.49s beta to 5.50.017 via Stardock Central, the build number is 5.1. Before the update: 5.49s beta.

I try this tip: «I would suggest changing download servers under Tools->Settings and in the Internet Section. You might also want to 'Refresh XML Data' as well.»

Same problem.

But, WindowBlinds show me via "System Information": WindowBlinds 5.1.

I'm really disappointed!!!!

Thanx in advance

Hello,

Try this solution:

Okay, the solution is (under Windows XP):

- Backup all custom themes
- Uninstall WindowBlinds via Stardock Central (choose to delete all themes).
- Reboot
- Delete this folder: C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds
- Flush all files and folders located here: C:\Documents and Settings\your_user_name\Local Settings\Temp
- Open Stardock Central
- Go to Tools --> Settings --> Internet
- Refrest list
- Refrest XML Data
- Click ok
- Go to Tools and click on Check for Application Updates
- Uncheck Show pre-release versions
- Install WindowBlind 5.1
- Reboot
- Check Show pre-release versions
- Install WindowBlind 5.49t
- Reboot

Hello,
You are not listening to me. Yes, I know what you wrote above will fix the issue (IF YOU WANT TO RUN A BETA VERSION), that's not what I am saying. I don't want version 5.49t as it is a BETA. Fact of the matter still exists... the SDC servers are still messed up with the version numbers. If version 5.50 does not exist in available downloads, then it should now show up in SDC, which is what is happening if you pay close attention to my posts above.

Hope that we're all clear now.

Hello,

All works fine now. WindowBlinds 5.10.xx under Windows XP SP2 and WindowBlinds 5.49t.xx under Window XP SP2 and Windows Vista. No more problem with SDC.

Try this solution (SDC):

My understanding is that the 5.5 build showing as released was an error.  This is now resolved but because of how SDC works, the 5.1 build will be showing as 5.5 in SDC if you had previously seen it unless the XML gets refreshed on your pc.

Once 5.5 is really released as release code (next week) it will show as an update and if you want to avoid RC builds right now then install the 5.50.017 that is showing as it is really 5.1.

I also believe that standalone WB 5 customers can now download the 5.49 RC using SDC.

Finally a quick note : Constructive criticism good, other types bad.  Also treat others on these forums as you would like to be treated.

No sh**, so did I from my WB51 download in email. Thanks for stating the obvious. What's your point, because obviously you don't get what I am stating?

Incorrect. I've refreshed XML defs and Servers... didn't change. Still shows 5.50.017 as available update since I have 5.10 running. Also uninstalled and reinstalled (yes, the directory was deleted) SDC with same results. SD PHAILED in resolution of this problem.

Have a good weekend...

I try to help you. If that doesn't work, open a ticket here. Have a good weekend.

What exactly are you trying to help me with? I don't have an issue with getting WB5.1 installed back after SDC hosed my setup this morning with the "Ghost" version of 5.5.017. I've reinstalled WB5.1 since then without any issues. My gripes are still with SDC (StarDockCentral) not working properly. TO FIX THIS, SD MUST FIX THE SERVERS THAT ARE HANDING THE INCORRECT INFO OUT... not something locally on my system.

Thanks for trying, but you phailed as well. Have a good weekend.

Complaining about how long it takes to fix something.

and at the same time...

Complaining about not thoroughly testing.

Can't win situation.

JRSCCivic98: I just tried Refresh XML out on a machine which showed 5.5 and it now correctly shows 5.1.

The only reason I can think of for 5.5 showing would be if you still had it installed.

To be honest even if 5.5 is still showing for some very odd reason on your PC, this is hardly a serious problem.  It causes you no problems that I am aware of.
